The Shoreham-Wading River High School Tri-M Music Honor Society Chapter inducted 16 new members at a ceremony on May 7. The evening included a performance of the National Anthem sung by Reilly Kenneally, a piano performance of Un Sospiro by Lee Minty, and processional and recessional music performed by the Orpheus Ensemble (Yiya Hu, Lee Minty, Caroline Panasci and Kerrn McGuire). Chapter President Liam McQuade was presented with the Tri-M Recognition of Excellence Award from the National Association for Music Education for his exemplary service and dedication to the chapter and to the field of music education.

Congratulations to our newest Tri-M members. They are Raven Fernandes, Grace Gallagher, Lauren Gallucci, Kai Hidaka, Kevin Loscalzo, Madeline Mayer, Ashley Miltz, Emily Minetti, Theodore Misawa, Timothy Nigrel, Clara Pedersen, Annabelle Price, Izrael Salgado, Nathan Schaefer, Emma Spencer and Aiden Weng.

A World of Thanks!

Students in Shoreham-Wading River High School’s World of Technology class recently completed their big school project for the year. This has become a tradition where the entire class works together to complete a large project for the district. This year it was a broadcasting desk for the school’s newly built media center.

“The students were challenged to use the design and engineering process to create a desk that met numerous unique functional and aesthetic requirements,” technology teacher Jacob Sigerson said. “We are extremely proud of the students’ hard work and dedication to make this ambitious idea a reality.”

High School Leaders Address Board of Education

Shoreham-Wading River High School Assistant Principal Jonathan Lilla introduced two student leaders at the May 6 Board of Education meeting to share information on the school’s happenings this year and plans for the next few weeks.

Student Government President Trey Dietz and Vice President Anthony Mango shared the fun and festive opportunities at the high school from pep rallies, athletic competitions, spirit days, a tree decorating event, Adam Sandler Day and this year’s new competitive badminton game to planned upcoming events.

The duo shared their work and creative ideas in empowering students to strengthen class spirit and the school community and to build upon the excitement and successes of each event to create lasting high school memories.

Tenured Educators Honored

The Shoreham-Wading River Board of Education recognized a milestone in the careers of seven educators when they granted them tenure at the May 6 meeting.

To the applause of family members, colleagues and community members, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Brian Heyward introduced the staff members – Taylor Anderson (Physical Education), Cara Behrens (Special Education), Micheala Berg (Family and Consumer Sciences), Brendan Gilley (English), Fallon Moscicki (Psychologist), Samantha Papa (Special Education) and Aimee Schwabe (Special Education).

The Shoreham-Wading River school community commends these educators for their efforts in advancing the goals and mission of the district.

Brava, Mia Wentz!

The Shoreham-Wading River School District’s May 6 Board of Education meeting was an inspiring evening of music and fine arts. To commence the festivities, sophomore Mia Wentz took to the stage for a piano solo nocturnes of Franz Liszt’s Liebesträume.

BOE President Thomas Sheridan lauded Mia for her amazing talents and for sharing her work with the community.
