How Does Your Garden Groove?

Students dressed up to perform. thumbnail266939

Miller Avenue School music teacher Cara Verity led kindergarten students in “How Does Your Garden Groove?” a musical theater style production about a group of musically talented vegetables growing in Franny and Freddy Farmer’s Garden.

Students played the parts of farmers, French fries, leafy greens (cabbage, spinach, lettuce), canned veggies (peas, beans, carrots, corn), and nightshades (tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant, peppers). Songs included “The Hot Potato,” “Lettuce Entertain You,” “Please Don't Put Us in a Can-Can!” and “Vegematic, Automatic!”

The students wowed the audience with their rhythm, tempo and just pure fun. Thanks to Mrs. Verity for not only inspiring the joys of music but reiterating the importance of eating vegetables!

First Graders Can’t Stop the Learning!

The Miller Avenue School outdoor learning pavilion was abuzz with education when first graders welcomed parents and grandparents to a spring celebration on June 5. thumbnail266901

The Miller Avenue School outdoor learning pavilion was abuzz with education when first graders welcomed parents and grandparents to a spring celebration on June 5.

Ms. Carly Bossung’s students shared their writing with family members, teaching them how to play math games and read books from their book bags.

The students ended the lovely ceremony with their rendition of “Can’t Stop the Feeling,” (from the animated Trolls movie), titled “Can’t Stop the Learning.” The students practiced the lyrics, and the finished work was a joyful remembrance of their time in Ms. Bossung’s class.
