Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten registration will be open from 1/20 through 2/7.

Dear Incoming Kindergarten Families,

I am thrilled to write to you about kindergarten registration in the Shoreham-Wading River School District. Starting school is such a magical milestone in a child's life, and we are honored to be part of this exciting journey with your family.

Miller Avenue School is home to approximately 400 students in kindergarten through second grade. Our focus is on providing developmentally appropriate, rigorous instruction that meets the diverse needs of all students. Student well-being is at the heart of everything we do at Miller Avenue. Our commitment goes beyond academics to ensure each child's physical, emotional, and social needs are met through a caring environment, supportive staff, and strong home-school partnerships. When students feel secure and supported, they're ready to embrace learning and grow.

I still remember watching last year's kindergartners walk through our doors on their first day – some eager to rush in and explore, others holding tight to their parents' hands. By the end of that first week, those same children were confidently navigating their school day. These precious moments remind me why I love being a principal, especially in our K-2 community.

We have designed our registration process to be straightforward and welcoming. Please click the Kindergarten Registration link, which will guide you step by step through registering your child. After your registration is complete, you will receive another letter from me with a link to schedule your child's screening appointment. You will also receive information about our Parent/Guardian Orientation and Kindergarten Student Orientation.

Our experienced kindergarten team understands that each child enters school with their own unique personality, interests, and needs. We're committed to creating an environment where every student feels safe, valued, and excited to learn.
