Humanities

Welcome to the Shoreham-Wading River School District Humanities Program

At Shoreham-Wading River School District, our Humanities program is designed to enrich our students’ lives by deepening their understanding of themselves, each other, and the world around them.  The study of humanities is more than an academic pursuit-it’s a pathway to perspective and purpose.

In English, we focus on the art of clear communication and the critical reading of complex texts, empowering students to articulate their ideas effectively and gain profound  insights into various topics.

In social studies, our students explore the historical and cultural contexts that have shaped our present, guiding them to understand where we are going and how they fit into the larger narrative of history.

In world languages, students engage with diverse cultures and enhance their ability to communicate across different languages, broadening their horizons and fostering a greater appreciation for global diversity and bilingualism.
