One of the major challenges facing education institutions today is protecting staff and students from cyber security attacks, which are increasingly significantly and becoming much more sophisticated in nature. Email is the most common vector for online security threats. To best protect the data of our students and staff, emails containing PII will be encrypted. Please see the instructions below for how to access encrypted emails.

 

What is PII in Shoreham-Wading River?

Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is any combination of seemingly non-identifiable information that might allow someone in the school community to identify a student.

  1. Student’s Full Name
  2. Name of student’s parents or other family members
  3. Address(es)
  4. Telephone
  5. Email Address
  6. Personal Identifiers
    • Social Security Number
    • Student Number
  7. Other indirect identifiers
    • Date of Birth
    • Birthplace
    • Mother’s Maiden Name
