Albert G. Prodell Middle School is a Bully-Free Zone
The Middle School was a sea of orange as students participated in Unity Day, the signature event of National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month in which schools and communities wear orange to unite for kindness, acceptance and inclusion.
Under the direction of school counselors Lauren Waldron and Eugene Sicoli, social worker Andrea Monz-Raciti and school psychologist Doreen Armstrong, Unity Day was a meaningful one for members of the school community who wanted to promote kindness and inclusion. Madison Tees, a student council member, kicked off the event with morning announcements about Unity Day. The student council and school leadership team decorated the school with positive Post-its written by students during their advisory periods. Students also signed Unity Day posters with antibullying messages. Additionally, the school’s mental health team pushed into the school’s cafeteria during lunchtime to spread awareness of the event at a Unity Day table, in which students could sign a pledge against bullying and receive an orange bracelet and stickers with positive messages.
