Dear Shoreham-Wading River Community,

It is with great pleasure that I have the opportunity to serve the community as the Director of Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services.

I am so proud of the opportunities we have created for the integration of our special education students with their peers. Programs like our middle and high school Best Buddies, elementary Play Pals, and peer mentoring initiatives have allowed meaningful friendships and connections to thrive. Seeing students engaged, included, and valued across our schools has been incredibly heartwarming. With programs like “Wildcats with Character,” we continue to celebrate and promote positive social-emotional skill-building across all grade levels.

As we look ahead, I am eager to continue enhancing our offerings through additional professional development for staff as well as growing existing programs. We have a phenomenal SEPTA that is a true partner in this mission. With their support and insight, I know we can achieve our goals for improvement while meeting the individual needs of each exceptional student.

The promise of acceptance, collaboration, and total belonging is what gets me excited to come to work every single day. Please join me in celebrating the accomplishments of our students so far and our commitment to their unlimited potential in our schools.

Fondly,

Tracy Von Eschen
