Miller Avenue Celebrated Halloween Using STEM skills

Learning was a huge part of the Halloween festivities at Miller Avenue School. Students in Ralph Jimenez’s and Krista LaBarbera’s classes got together for some STEM activities to celebrate the holiday.
Students rotated through centers by taking measurements and making predictions about whether their pumpkins will sink or float in water. The students also learned about the parts of a pumpkin and decorated their gourds to take home. To finish the lesson, the classes conducted an experiment about what happens if baking soda and vinegar are mixed inside a jack-o-lantern.
