Miller Avenue Introduces Second Grade Authors

Miller Avenue second graders showcased their writing during the Nov. 18 Board of Education meeting, which was held at Miller Avenue School. Principal Claudia Smith introduced the students individually to the board, who had the opportunity prior to the meeting to explore their writing. Principal Smith also explained how these “beginning authors” have been learning the conventions of language and are practicing using story elements to tell their stories or personal events in their lives. Some of the elements included thoughtful details, dialogue, editing, descriptive language and a clear plot beginning, middle and end.
The District congratulates the following authors on this outstanding accomplishment and extends best wishes for success in their writing for years to come.
- Zoe Ameneiros – “Missing Gyro”
- Blakely Demaio – “Gender Reveal”
- Lana Grafer – “The Snow Slide”
- Alessandra Isgro – “The Production”
- Brooke Marino – “Fall Festival at Fink’s Farm”
- Edward Shannon – “Book Review: Can I Play Too?”
- Nora Tastrom – “My Vacation to Spain”
- Ayden Zhuo – “Going to the Beach”
