High School Student-Artists Among Top Talents in Suffolk County

Shoreham-Wading River High School juniors Brooke Barget, Kayla Spitaliere and Lyla Zwolak were among Suffolk County’s top student artists selected to exhibit their artwork in the Suffolk County Art Leaders Association All County Show this winter. Lyla won the All County Award in the Drawing Category for the second consecutive year. Additionally, Jillian Portuese’s artwork was also submitted to the SCALA Senior Scholarship Show.
Art teachers and directors whose districts are SCALA exhibition members are eligible to exhibit their students’ artwork in the All County Show and Scholarship Competition in the areas of drawing, painting, 3D/sculpture, photography, mixed media, digital media and video/animation. The Senior Scholarship portion of the show is open only to seniors who plan to attend a collegiate art program in the fall. For the Scholarship competition, students must submit three art pieces along with a written essay. This year’s theme was “What impact would you like your artwork to have?”
The district and high school faculty congratulate the student-artists on their art accomplishments and extend best wishes for success to Jillian in the continuance of her art studies this coming fall.
