Students Share ‘A Journey Through History’

On June 1, the District welcomed students and their families to Family Literacy Night – A Journey Through History. The evening celebrated learning and local history.
The event began with a slideshow highlighting the group’s field trip experiences throughout the year. Students then shared presentations on several local historical sites as part of Suffolk County’s Passport Program and in recognition of America’s upcoming 250th anniversary. Their research highlighted local landmarks, including the Carriage House, Bayles Boat Shop, the Nassakeag One Room Schoolhouse, the Mather House, the Brewster House, the Noah Hallock Homestead and the Tesla Science Center.
The presentations reflected months of learning and exploration, giving students the opportunity to share their knowledge, strengthen their presentation skills and deepen their connection to the history of the greater community.
