In recognition of Fire Prevention Week, students at Miller Avenue School recently welcomed members of the Rocky Point Fire Department for an educational visit focused on fire safety and emergency preparedness.

During the visit, firefighters spoke with students about the importance of fire prevention, what to do in the event of an emergency and how to stay safe. Students also had the opportunity to get an up-close look at the firefighters’ equipment and learn how it helps them respond to emergencies.

The department’s firetruck was parked outside during the visit, which gave students an opportunity to get a closer look at the vehicle and the tools firefighters use to protect the community.
