Exploring Learning With Drones

Prodell Middle School sixth graders in Michele Vitale’s STEAM class recently participated in an engaging drone unit that connected classroom learning to real-world applications. Students explored drone technology in real-life applications, practiced flight skills using simulators on their Chromebooks and learned key vocabulary for flying drones. Students also designed for their own drones to solve real-world problems, encouraging creativity and critical thinking. This experience provided an exciting, hands-on introduction to STEM careers and innovative technology.
Through a partnership with BOCES Model Schools, Mara Healy brought RocketDrones to the school library, where she and Mrs. Vitale helped students complete hands-on flight challenges that emphasized precision, control and problem-solving. The students were engaged and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
