Leadership in Action at Miller Avenue

Miller Avenue Elementary School’s First Grade Leadership Club recently hosted some inspiring community guests to see leadership in action.
Troy and Caryn Albert from the Peconic Hockey Foundation and their daughter Jojo, a student at SWR High School, shared the excitement of building a dream from the ground up. They showed the kids how teamwork and passion can turn a big idea, like a local ice rink, into a reality.
The club also hosted Jennifer Norbury from Samaritan Daytop Village, who taught the students that leadership is also about having a big heart. She shared how she helps people live happy, healthy lives by making sure everyone has someone to talk to and support them.
From building foundations to caring for others, the first graders saw firsthand that being a leader is all about helping your community thrive. They had a blast asking questions and seeing leadership in the real world.
