Four students from Shoreham-Wading River High School’s Media Production Club and club advisers Vincent Ball and Brendan Gilley attended the BASH (Broadcast Award for Senior High) Awards celebrating broadcast journalism and video production at Hofstra University on May 21.

The students – Derek Blanco, Nicholas Friedlander, Jacob Maggipinto and Nicholas Worthington – enjoyed a tour of the university’s broadcasting facilities, a keynote presentation from WABC-TV’s Chantee Lans, as well as a breakout session where they learned about a variety of careers in the media industry. Nicholas Friedlander was selected to present the award for the best video in arts and culture.

“It was Shoreham-Wading River High School's first time attending, and we are hopeful that this can become a yearly tradition,” Mr. Ball said.
