Wading River School student Violet Bjertnes was honored for her writing talents as the third-place winner for grade four in the Long Island Language Arts Council’s Kenneth F. Gambone Writing Contest for writers in grades 4, 7 and 10.

Violet, a student in Ms. Algiere and Ms. Cowan's fourth grade class, was honored at LILAC’s annual spring luncheon/workshop featuring student writers from across Long Island. Her piece is titled How Cat Got its Whiskers.

Violet competed against numerous students from schools across Long Island. Violet got to meet noted author Raymond Bean and have her book signed. Mr. Bean presented a keynote workshop to the audience at Captain Bill’s Restaurant in Bay Shore.

Congratulations Violet!
