Prodell Middle School students learned about 400 years of immigration in New York with a four-panel exhibit from the Long Island Library Resource Council. The eighth graders in Corrine Fallon’s social studies classes visited the library and worked along with Ms. Fallon and librarian Mrs. Ann-Marie Kalin to further understand the historic immigration to New York State from 1650 to 1950. The panels represented the life, laws, early immigrants and work for the new arrivals, beginning with Dutch settlers and continuing through the end of the world wars.

In addition to the poster exhibit, Mrs. Kalin challenged the students with independent inquiry as she set out numerous books to choose from – allowing the students to review images and photographs and record what they found fascinating or what sparked their interest.
