Shoreham-Wading River School District bus driver Ginny Kalbfleisch was honored by District Transportation Coordinator Pat Rogers at the June 11 Board of Education meeting.

Ms. Rogers noted the many hours that all bus drivers put in to keep students safe and secure. Ms. Kalbfleisch was applauded for going above and beyond in her role transporting SWR special education students at the high school. She is known as an is an active supporter of the students, attending their Unified Basketball games and Unified Bowling competitions, cheering them on with pom poms. One peer mentor student made Ginny Unified team shirts because they see her as part of the team. For the Best Buddies prom, she postponed a personal trip to be their bus driver. She decorated the bus with streamers, balloons and beads to add to the celebratory milestone event for the students.

The students adore her and cheer when they see her driving their bus.

Superintendent of Schools Mr. Gerard Poole lauded Ms. Kalbfleisch for her dedication to SWR students and for going the extra mile each day. “She embodies the caring spirit of our district, and we are lucky to have her,” he said.
