The Shoreham-Wading River High School Science Research program finished out the summer strong in various enriching opportunities. SPARK (Student Partnerships for Advanced Research and Knowledge) students Hayden Shea, Spencer Lee, Timmie Nigrel and Conner McVeigh utilized the Infrared Microscope at Brookhaven National Laboratory to examine extracted microplastic samples, while fourth year Advanced Research students Sasha Seletskaya and Julianna O'Neill participated in the prestigious High School Science Research Program at BNL, working in the Physics Department and the National Synchrotron Light Source, respectively.

These SWR scientists (and their teacher, Mrs. Dana Schaefer) are ready for an exciting year ahead, with new project ideas and field work, upcoming experimental time at BNL, SWR's next cohort of Regeneron Science Talent Search applicants, plus new experiences with scientific computing, sensors and coding.
