Shoreham-Wading River High School seniors Juliana Mahan and Lucas Portuese were the SWR nominees for the Dellecave Award. Nominees are selected for their outstanding athletic ability, great character and integrity. A breakfast was held recently at Villa Lombardi’s for all Suffolk County nominees.

Named in memory of the legendary educator, official and coach Gaetano “Butch” Dellecave, the award is the product of a more than two decade partnership between Suffolk County school districts and the Butch Dellecave Foundation award organizers.

Athletic directors from all Suffolk County school districts nominated one male and one female from their high school senior class. Nominees must be students who are not only at the top of their athletic game, but also score high in classroom performance and in their commitment to local community service.
