Miller Avenue kindergarten students are learning the skills and strategies as they progress into proficient readers and writers.
Teacher Kelly Ford encouraged her young learners to choose a picture book and use the characters, settings and events in the story to help sound out the words on the page. This structured approach is aiding the students in developing literacy capabilities.
