Shoreham-Wading River High School senior Eden YiYa Hu has been named a Commended student in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. She received a Letter of Commendation from the high school and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation to honor her success.

“On behalf of Shoreham-Wading River High School, we are excited to highlight Eden’s outstanding scholastic promise,” said SWRHS guidance counselor Lucy Eschbach. “As she moves on in her high school career and beyond, she is bound to expand on her educational achievements as she pursues academic success.”

Eden is one of approximately 34,000 seniors throughout the nation who are being recognized as Commended Students. She placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2025 competition by taking the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The selected students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing the key role their schools play in their academic development is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation.
