Albert G. Prodell Middle School Student Council students addressed the Shoreham-Wading River School District Board of Education members during the April 8 BOE meeting.

Principal Kevin Vann introduced guidance counselors and Student Council advisers Eugene Sicoli and Lauren Waldron and commended the outstanding work and how the Student Council, with about 30 members, has risen to a new level, creating a positive impact and new ideas in the school.

Mr. Sicoli and Ms. Waldron then turned the microphone over to Student Council president Colbie Brown, vice president Brielle Bannon, treasurer Cooper Hochmuth and members Jacob Coriano and Keira Holt. The student leaders spoke of their successes in the school to date this year, including Red Ribbon Week, Unity Day, the Halloween dance, P.S. I Love You Day and more. The students shared how they purchased new games for free periods from profits from the Halloween dance.

They then spoke about their ideas to recognize Mental Health Awareness Month in May, both throughout the building and throughout the district and how they will incorporate resilience, the Character Trait of the Month, into their plans.

Board of Education President Thomas Sheridan commended the students for their efforts throughout the school year.
