Albert G. Prodell Middle School seventh graders displayed incredible teamwork and baking talent in Ms. Michaela Berg's FACS class with a recent “Cupcake Wars” competition.
Students collaborated in small groups to bake and decorate cupcakes from scratch, focusing on a sports theme. This hands-on project provided valuable learning experiences, from correctly interpreting recipes and applying math skills in measurements and conversions, to unleashing their creativity in design and intricate details.
“The energy in the classroom was electric as students brainstormed, baked and meticulously frosted their cupcake creations, transforming simple ingredients into edible works of art,” Ms. Berg said.
The results were truly impressive, with each group presenting a unique and imaginative display that reflected their chosen sport. Beyond the delicious treats, the competition fostered important life skills including collaboration, problem-solving and attention to detail.
“Seeing the students' enthusiasm and pride in their accomplishments was incredibly rewarding,” Ms. Berg said. “It was clear they had a blast while learning valuable culinary and teamwork skills, making this a resounding success. I am incredibly proud of all their hard work and creativity.”
