Albert G. Prodell Middle School students experienced an earlier winter storm when eighth graders hosted a Snowball Showdown! Eighth graders in Linda Moran’s technology class learned about the history of catapults and how they work. Students broke into teams and were given a budget from Ms. Moran to purchase materials needed to build a catapult. Optional materials included popsicle sticks, rubber bands, spoons, bottle caps and tape. The students met in the library for their competition to see which team’s catapult could project the snowball (a pom-pom) the furthest.

“The students had a lot of fun creating and revising their models during the week,” Ms. Moran said. The winning team’s snowball reached 213 inches!
